Located in Bikaner, Junagarh Fort is one of the most impressive forts of Northern part of India. Junagarh Fort is one of the finest Rajput monuments. Raja Rai Singh was started building Junagarh Fort in 1587. Raja Rai Singh was an emperor contemporary of Mughal emperor Akbar. Junagarh is counted among the few forts in India which was never attacked or captured. Junagarh Fort consists of 37 palaces, temples and pavilions built by different Kings; it stands protected by big walls and round towers.
Karan Pol [gate] is the main entrance to the fort. The gate is that is east facing. Suraj Pol meaning the sun gate is the next gate to the Karan Pol gate. There are several magnificent palaces in the Junagarh fort. These palaces are the symbol of ancient art. These places are named as-
- Anup Mahal
- Ganga Niwas
- Rang Mahal or palace of pleasure
There is another temple named the Har Mandir which is the royal chapel for the royal. In that temple the members of royal family worshiped their gods and goddesses. These palaces were made by red sandstone and marble. These are the beautiful structures. The picturesque assemblage of courtyards, kiosks, balconies and windows make the structures more attractive. There is a museum in the premises of the Junagarh Fort. The museum consists of a wide range of a rich collection.

The Junagarh Fort is open to everybody. It opens at 10 AM in the morning and closes at 4.30 PM. If a tourist wants to see the full part of the fort, the person will buy a ticket cost fifty rupees but one can see a few part of the fort by buying tickets for ten rupees. If you want to carry your still or movie cameras with you, then you will be charged separately.
