Founder of Ajmer is Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan, he founded the city in the tenth century. There is a Brahma Temple in Pushkar, the only temple in the world dedicated to Brahma, the Hindu God of creation. Camel Fair also takes place in Pushkar every year.

The Dargah Sharif, the tomb of the famous saint Khwaza Moinuddin Chisti is a prominent place to visit in Ajmer. The Dargah Sharif has two courtyards and a number of marble buildings around them. The massive gate of Dargah Sharif was a donation from the Nizam of Hyderabad. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan donated a mosque, the Akbari Masjid. Emperor Akbar and his queen made on-foot pilgrimages every year to Dargah Sharif. Between Agra to Ajmer every two miles large pillars were erected for the halt of the royal people. Some of the pillars are still there.
The famous Adhai-Din-Ka-Jhopra is situated in the Taragarh hill. It was a Jain Temple which dates to 1153. Qutubuddin Aibak converted it into a mosque in 1193. The supporting columns of the roof which is forty in number are all different.
Magazine is the museum of the city has a rich display of Rajput and Mughal sculpture and armour. It was formerly residence to Prince Salim.
Nasiyan is a beautiful Jain Temple in the city of Ajmer.
The other tourist attractions of Ajmer are Rajputana Museum, Abdullah Khan’s Tomb, Ana Sagar, Visal Sar, Khobra Bheroon Temple, Circuit House and other wonders.
